Philadelphia, PA - The Philadelphia Museum of Art, undergoing a massive $31 Million renovation project, relied on Cold Jet Dry Ice Blasting technology to restore hundreds of fragile (and very expensive) terra-cotta roofing tiles. Each tile is estimated to have a $10,000 replacement cost.
Cold Jet was selected to remove 80+ years of tar buildup on the tiles due to the effectiveness of the cleaning as well as the non-chemical and non-abrasive nature of dry ice blasting.
Cold Jet's involvement with the project is described in the August 2007 issue of Building Services Managament magazine. The article, Remaking History in Philadelphia, highlights many of the superior advantages of dry ice blasting in historical restoration projects.
